How remiss of me

Lodder Bonsai is a large Bonsai Import & Retailer in the centre of the Netherlands.
I would guess their main livelihood is selling large batches of mallsai to garden centres and other outlets.
Apart from acres of mallsai however, I’ve seen everything up to giant specimen landscape pines retailing for around 50k.

It is not the best place to find starter material, most tree are in a semi-finished state, but apart from that they seem to have something for everybody. Of course trees aren’t the only things being sold at Lodder, they do have all the usual Tokoname ware and some nice pots as well. Tools & wire, soils & fertilizer, all the trimmings. Prices are debatable. Some stuff seems much too expensive, but there are also quite a few finds to be made.

Today was the first day of an Open Day weekend, with demonstrations by Hotsumi Terakawa and Serge Clemence, exhibits, lots of stalls, pots and more pots, tables, suiseki, ikabana, sushi, drums, our Dutch forum had a stall as well…

Hi Stefan, What tree did you buy? The leafless chinese bonsai (ficus?) look very interesting and macabre and the ginkgos look really well, where they particulary large (the ramification is superb) thanks for sharing, Andrew

The Ginkgo's were superb, especially the exhibition tree, but very expensive.

Alas, I bought nothing this grand, but I am happy with the tree i did pick up.

I was looking for a nice fagus crenata, but the specimen trees were unaffordable, and the simple trees still expensive, as well pretty futureless as a bunch.

I did have my eye on this Japanese Maple early on, put it in back walked past it thrice, and finally ended up buying it.

Could be a 'Kyo Hime' - it didn't say, so the verdict is out until I see some leaves i can look up.

To give you an idea, the price-tag for this tree was EU250,-, I got it 50% off for half that.
