Carl,
I would like to thank you for this article. I do not have the best digital camera and anything that can help is much appreciated. I think I will go to the fabric store and make a couple of reflectors and see what I come up with.
Also, I don't have any display stands. Do you have any tips or suggestions of things I could use until I am able to either build or purchase quality stands?

Thanks again for this great article
Adam

Wow!
That article rocks! I was just trying to figure out why my pics all looked so terrible even though I have a good quality digital camera. Now I know how to correct my problems. Thanks OMC!

Feel free to work up other articles on such overlooked details. Sometimes it's hard to figure out stuff like this when your rescources are limited.

LOL, but according to Andy's latest rant, it's not the quality of the tree, it's the display.

"the tree is just one component in the bonsai display - the least important element in that display. I say “least important” because almost any bonsai can be made to look great with great display composition and care"

As soon as all this liquid sunshine stops I'm going to head out and re-photograph some of my trees. Thanks for the info Carl.

Carl,

An excellent article....kudos. I will refer to it when I decide it is time to take "serious" photos of bonsai.

Thanks for the relevant advice,

John

Nice one, OMC!

I currently have no trees worth showing anywhere but the 'Show and Tell' section, but with your advice (and a lot of help from PhotoShop) I hope 2 be posting in 'Ask the Master' sometime soon!

Seriously, U have posted the simplest guide 2 Bonsai photography I have come across. It is not brain surgery, and shouldn't be that difficult 4 most of us 2 come up with similar set-ups. It seems that so often, both here and on other Forums, folks post pics asking 4 advice and criticism, but the pics are so bad as 2 be useless. Even the lowliest tree in training should be given half a chance by being presented properly. I know I am guilty as anybody else.

Thanks.

FlyBri.
