Old Garden Japanese Maple

I was at a picnic at an old estate, and noticed an interesting (to me, anyway) old japanese maple (cut-leaf, or dissectum).

The hole for the path is about 6 feet high.

Saw a comparable size lace-leaf at a nearby nursery, not quite as old, only $7K.
