Red Leaf Okay, so how many YOU got?

All--greetings, peace, and grace--

My wife put this query to me, and I had only the vaguest notion of what might be the right answer: How many bonsai trees do these people have? It was followed quickly by others (e.g., how much do their spouses/partners, etc. let THEM spend, and so forth....) But, since I'm not at all sure that I wish to fire up the discussion of how much one should be allowed to spend, let's limit it to number.

How many bonsai trees do YOU have?

I'll start: thirteen. And sinister plots for more, if I can only take over more of the yard....dang roses....

About 150 plants in various stages of development, although I have never actually preformed a count. These are in the ground and in training pots.

Actual bonsai that are developed enough to actually be in proper pots, nine.

I have between eighteen and twenty-two that I would consider showing at one time in an exhibition. Counting seedlings, cuttings, liners and trees in training planters, somewhere around 500. Soon to expand even more due to a gift of a bunch of Japanese Maple seeds and the discovery of a source for some Pines I have been looking for.

Thanks for the clarification, Vance. I should have been more specific--NOT counting seedlings, etc.--that's the number I'm after. That is, the ones actually up for being seen by anyone but their mothers....

LOL,A lovely and mild spring morning. A fun game for a garden goblin.

254 potted trees, well over 3/4 are for you know what and the others just have cool looking foliage. The neighbors have a few tropicals (about 20) that where donated aswell.I need room for more trees so they better take some more.I gave them a book and a good pot last summer, I hope they have caught the fever.LOL, I'm soooo evil.

Ooops, the part about them being refined was posted while I was typing.

After the recent (sometimes heated) discussion threads and a lot of soulsearching,
Just two that I would actually consider showable at the moment, with two more that will be ready in a year or two.

1 in somewhat showable condition, 3 in pre-bonsai, multiple hundreds at seedling/potensai stage.

Over a hundred, but not sure of exactly how many. About twenty have been in shows, and roughly half are "show" level.
