OFF TOPIC- Windshield Wiper ??

Help... I had a problem... anytime I visited Bonsaitalk, and only bonsai talk, I received a picture of a car windshield wiper going. Could not get into the this site....this was only on my identity on this puter. I'm running windows XP home edition. If I used my wifes Identity I was OK..

I removed all cookies and temp files I seem to be OK... Any thoughts?

I've had the same wiper for a while. Until I decided to reset my system to an earlier date. That fixed the problem. It was weird.
(I also have Windows XP)

I would love to know what caused it. It is strange that even though it had the right web-address, it went to that mysterious website all the time.

That sounds like spyware or something like it. I would suggest goingto this link: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and installing adaware. It is a free version. Make sure to update the definitions inside the program when you install it then scan the system. You will be very surprised how much junk it finds.

Adaware is a good program. You probably had some spyware that overwrote your Favorites folder and latched onto some of the popular IP addresses, causing a browser redirect. It has nothing to do with this site in particular.

If it happens again, try clicking File and then properties and see what the URL reported is, assuming it doesn't appear in the address bar.

Regards,

Matt

Good advice, BUT!!!!!

If you're using Gator, save your info (export data for each user, by right clicking the gator icon in your taskbar) to you My Documents folder, or all your passwords will be gone forever!!

BTW, Gator now has a subscription option ($30/yr) which will supposedly get rid of all the GAIN advertising, so you may want to pay the money and keep this handy program.

yeah Gator is considered spyware by these types of programs. So if you use it on purpose save your settings. Then go buy the real version that doesn't spy on you

Spyware...my worst nightmare.
There are a few from nCase literally killing my computer by flooding it with ads. Every time I want to uninstall, I have to go to their website to download an uninstall-file.
Half hour later the programs are back. These bozos need to be prosecuted and convicted. My blood pressure goes up just from thinking about them.

Hopefully good clean puter running from here on..

Hey David... Vermont is warm and sunny... been out enjoying the sun.....OK, thats a bit of a stretch.... it started snowing yesterday late afternoon and stopped this evening... we have 7 new inches of snow... some places have a foot to 18 inches. As for the temps... been dipping into the mid-teens...

Spring...spring we still got to get over winter!!!
