Oak Fountain?

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/08/12/le...e.ap/index.html If you haven't seen this it is an unbelievable story. Water is pouring out of a Red Oak in San Antonio, Texas. CNN also has a video showing the water coming out of the tree like a faucet. Scientists are puzzled but something tells me there could be a simple explanation.

Quick - get me some green wood cuttings so I can start to propigate this magical tree! We will make a fortune!

Or there is a big old rotten spot in this large oak trunk that has been holding water for quite some time and now it has finally has found a way out. The tannin in the tree that the stored water has absorbed may help make spider bite welts feel better.

I say we cut it down to find out. You know - in the name of science

Or there's a spring underneath the tree and it's venting upwards beneath the bark. I think the water is flowing a bit hard for it to be part of the tree's circulation...but I have no real idea of what's doing this.

We had a maple tree at our cabin in Pennsylvania that every spring would "spring" forth water. It is a huge tree and held a ton of snow. During the snow melt the water would trickle out a hole that had formed over the years. It still standing today.

I'm with the "tree growing on top of a spring" theory myself... artesian well plus hollow spot would work! Bet that's one happy tree

Thumbs up Springs

There are natural "springs" in and around San Antonio. San Pedro Springs (in San Antonio) is just one example. That is my guess. But the fellow better be careful that SAWS dosen't come after him for wasting water! LOL
Irene

ps SAWS is San Antonio Water System

Lucille Pope has started to wonder if the water has special properties.

Her insurance agent dabbed drops of the water on a spider bite and the welt went away, she said.

There are three possibilities:

I. This is a miracle, and God's water is trickling from this tree. It has all the healing abilities of Lourdes, France, and is on a par with every relic venerated by the Roman Catholic Church, and every visage of Christ seen in every screen door, highway underpass, and grilled cheese sandwich around the world.

B. There is a perfectly natural explanation, such as spring, snowmelt, etc. I'm just wondering why there is no report of anyone analyzing the water and discovering if it's groundwater, treated drinking water, or something else entirely.

3. It's a complete hoax, perpetrated by someone looking for their fifteen minutes of fame. As such, it has all the healing abilities of Lourdes, France, and is on a par with every relic venerated by the Roman Catholic Church, and every visage of Christ seen in every screen door, highway underpass, and grilled cheese sandwich around the world.

Can I borrow it? If you could grill a lot of them you'd become quite wealthy on EBay I'm with the spring theory as well if in fact it isn't a hoax.

4. The beer volcano produced too much liquid and His Noodly Appendage decided, in its infinte wisdom, to route the excess through the oak (to save the stripper factory)! Ramen!

Why do people always assume it is the work of God if they can't understand how it works? If it goes on like that... soon we'll have the holy microwave, the divine internet...
