I'll not even try to make a list...I've read so many posts and learned so much that my hat is off to you all. It's a great site and I'm grateful for all the information that is here.

Even though Little John's picture is a little frightening, I have to second his motion of every poster is part of the whole picture here. You all have created a Bonsai Masterpiece forum, and I salute and thank you one and all!!!

Well, it has been a while since I have posted at bonsaiTALK. I have been busy with work and school, and not to mention taking care of my bonsai. Since that time, one thing I realized was that I was spending too much time talking about trees and not enough time working on my trees. So, I may stop by occasionally, but unfortunately I probably will never become a regular again.

But there are a few here that I could note that have been a big influence for myself:

Bart Thomas- I have corresponded with Bart many times through private messages on BonsaiTALK, and have met him twice (once at Jim Smith's nursery, and at Washington D.C. at the world convention)

Carl Bergstrom- What is there to say about Carl that has not already been said about him in the past? He has a good deal of knowledge in bonsai, kusamono, and photography. He is also knows a little about science , but we do not see that side of him here at bonsaiTALk often. I do not believe that I have ever got into an argument with Carl, which is an amazing feat. Not to mention, the advice I have seen him give is always correct. And, if he is not sure, he will give a disclaimer so that others know this. I was hoping to meet Carl at the WBC in D.C., but he was not able to attend due to his work.

Chris Cochrane- Technically Chris is not a bonsaiTALKER, but many of you probably know him from IBC and other places. Chris has a good deal of knowledge about the Japanese culture and display techniques. He spent a while studying with Kobayashi-san in Japan focusing his studies on Japanese display. I managed to meet Chris in person at the convention in D.C., and was glad to have the chance. I am hoping he will someday write a book on his experiences in Japan, but I do not know if that is something he will choose to do.

The Kindness Of Strangers.

Evening all!

After having stated in my previous post that I did not wish to name names, something happened that has given me no choice...

Some of you may be aware that The Good Lady and I are expecting the birth of FlyBri Jr in March 2006, and unfortunately there have been complications which mean that The Good Lady will be undergoing surgery in a couple of weeks. No drama really - the folks at the brand new maternity hospital assure us that the surgery is fairly routine, and expect positive outcomes for both Mama and child.

I mentioned these few tidbits of info yesterday to the folks in the Chat room just before we headed to the hospital for a final Gyno consultation. This afternoon, while I was cooking Chilli and The Good Lady was preparing to take The Mongrels for a walk, there was a knock on the door.

"FlyBri and The Good Lady?" asked the young fella.

"Um - yes?" was The Good Lady's confused reply as he shoved an enormous bunch of flowers into her hands. "Who are they from?" she asked.

"Dunno," shrugged the fella, and he made a B line for the gate with The Mongrels hot on his heels.

On inspecting the attached card, The Good Lady recognised the names Aaron K, Ron Martin, Sunday and RedPine as some of the folks I've been hanging out with in Chat. She could barely contain her disbelief. I - ever the opportunist - grabbed the camera and snapped off a couple pics.

I would like to thank all the folks mentioned above for making such a gesture for somebody they barely know on the other side of the world. I've tried to +Rep these folks, but the Fairy won't let me - if anybody has some spare Rep up their sleeves, please give generously. (I know the whole Rep thing doesn't actually mean anything, but it's all I have to offer in the way of saying "Thanks".)

I'd better go before I cry.

FlyBri.

PS: If this isn't a functional community, what is?

I have to state, although he might be a bit embarrassed, Ron was the one who put his hand in his pocket and sent the flowers from the chatroom crew. Ron above all deserves the most if not all the credit for this very lovely gesture.

I will, in due course, mail a copy of "How to train your husband" by the most ruthless and feminist author I can find for Mrs Flybri's perusal, if for no other reason that to whip the "mungrel" into shape lol .

All the best guys and gals,

Aaron
