Al, I like that first Shimpaku. It has all the qualities of a good bunjin but with the lower branches left in place. Is that what you are trying for here?

Tony, I am not sure yet. I will probably let it grow like I said and see what develops. I know the trunk will never put on weight in that 5 gallon pot. Need a 15 or so. Also I really like the way the bottom branch is developing. If I were to keep it as bunjin I would sooner or later have to remove it since it is so visualy heavy.

Denny, don't forget I do manage to work 8 hours a day too. I have a very busy schedule. I am never home on the weekends. It's either bonsai shows, nursery trips, workshops with bonsai friends, the coast with my wife, or a party for friends with a BBQ. Last year I was home for about 6 weekends. I love all the stuff I do. Makes for an exciting life.
