north american maple as a mame bonsai
i found a maple sprout beneath my maple tree the other day, so i uprooted it and put it into normal potting soil. the little tree stayed alive, and so now i've put it into a mame bonsai pot in bonsai soil. i was just curious if this type of maple qualifies as a true bonsai, if it will grow as one, and how it should be cared for.

Depends on which maple it is. If it's e.g. a sugar or Norway maple, mame would not be the best choice as leaves and internodes (space between leaf or branch buds) tend to stay large and long, whereas i.e. a trident maple's leaves can be reduced well.
