New mugho pines

I have purchased 3 new mugho pines and as per Vance's instructions I am resisting the urge to begin working on them. Everytime I pass them I pick one up and start thinking what branches to take off and what to leave. I can't wait for the end of June. I have to find something to do in the meantime.

Okay Vance, Here are two pictures of each. It is hard to see the trunk line because of all the green but I tried. Don;t laugh too hard.

Hi Donna,
I think they have good potental but definitely want to hear what Vance says about them. I too have been resisting work on the ones I have.

On the mugo subject: Vance, I have heard rumor of you publishing/ed a book on mugos. Is this true and if so where would I find one.
thanks

I have been working on a book for about ten years. There are times I get really excited about it and there are times, like now, that I feel I am wasting my time, but I'll get over it. The book is not yet published and unless I publish it myself it is not likely it ever will be. So that's where that is at.

As to the Mugos, they have nice bases, I don't give a rats shor hair about the branching, bases are the name of the game. Get a good base and you can grow a good bonsai one day, But that's what bonsai is all about.
