New digital camera.

Well my loving wife(hows that for sukin up) has bought my birthday present early. I had whined so much about a camera that she could not take it any more.

I bought a Fuji 2800 zoom. 2.1 mega pixal's, 1.8" lcd monitor, 6x optical zoom and 2.5x digital zoom, full movie with sound, and 16mb smart media card.

The only problem was when I started to download the software on my computer it would not take a vital piece of the software. It was the viewer, where you can size the foto's for posting to the web. I had to re-formatt my whole hard drive. Save all the files to floppy that I wanted to keep. Re install all my scanner/printer software, and install the digital camera software. It all went in like it was supposed to. I am going to post some of the pics I took today, and no laughing. I still need some time with the camera, saving the files at the right size and all the other stuff associated with digital media. Just wait till I try a movie. Hummm... hight speed router while making a dai for my suiseki.

Tickled pink, Bonsaial

The redwood in the previous pic almost died last year at the fair. The wind from a building blew on it for two weeks and dried it out something terrible. I have done nothing but just try to keep it alive. Will get back to styling next year.

The next tree is the cascade that I have posted before. I just like the way the foliage has filled out.

love the redwood. Do you know how old it is, and was it collected?

That redwood looks fantastic!

I have a Canon IXUS330 which is a fantastic camera for the price. Features are endless.

Thanks guys! I can't wait to go out of town and take some pics of a bonsai show. There is just so much a person can do with digital over 35mm.

This is the cascade 6 months ago. Check the growth on the foliage. At least double in size. I think I can attribute that to the bio-gold fertilizer from Japan.

Hi Al,

Congrats on the camera. The camera usually isn't the expensive part. It's the huge monitor, photo printer, cd-rom burner and memory upgrade that set you back. And did I mention the case, memory cards, batteries, extra lens, charger, bigger case, CD ROM wallet, HI-Q paper, ink and frames?

I never bothered with the bundled software for any of the digital cameras I've had. And I've used six. Download a trial copy of paint shop pro from www.jasc.com and you'll probably ashcan that stuff too.

I'm sure you'll be taking plenty of cool pictures for the forum, so pass my appreciation along to your wife. I know you're going to be spending some of those NASCAR weekends at the ballet or doing chores to work this one off.

Regards,

Matt.

Great to see the first fruits of your new camera, Al.

I'll chime in with my admiration of the redwood and with my amazement at the foliage development on that juniper.

I look forward to seeing lots of future pictures from you. Tell your dear wife that she gave all of us here a present when she got you that camera!

---

Out of curiousity, does this camera have manual focus and exposure control? Does anyone know of a such a beast under the 1K mark?

All the best,
OMC
