New bonsai web site
We are building our website:
http://www.bonsaimenorca.com (link fixed) we like to know your opinion about the site. It's not finished yet, is in Spanish but we add a link in English language. I look forward for your opinions. Thanks Toni Last edited by TreeBay : 13-Nov-2005 at 01:34 PM. Reason: fixed link |

Not really that much content in there yet, but as a website it works. The layout is clear and concise which allows for comfortable navigation. The design is pretty light, not too many superfluous graphics, which keeps loading times down, it does have it's own style though. I do think the section headers would work better in bold, as you have for the word "Organization" in the "Non-Spanish Links" section (which is the only place were you seem to break out of you normal non-bold style).
Otherwise, personally I hate "Under construction" sign, for the simple reason, that any good website is always under construction. Content needs to be fresh, if you allow it to settle for too long, people will not come back. ![]() Also from a marketing stand-point it is better to introduce the new site, when all the content is in there. People who visit now, will see a (mostly) empty site, and not many will be back regularily to check for updates, if they haven't found anything on their first visit. All in all, certainly not bad, and for bonsai-website purposes, better than a lot of sites that are out there. Tells us when you're ready to go public with it... regards, Stefan

G'day Toni,
I have to agree with all of what Stefan has written, and wish to add that those pale colours used are too much of a strain for people like me. Specially don't like/understand that scissors concept, think better at least a tree, as the scissors come across to me as being far too aggresive, also the drawing is non too clear. Pictures in the sales gallery, too small and non to clear as well. There are many interesting trees in Spain, but sadly, I do not see them in this site. I will look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future, and wish you success with all of your bonsai endeavours. Regards, Nigel

Generally I like the site, design is simple and light.
You could only put more informations, and some advices! I am very pleased to see some bonsai olives, that are also native here in Croatia. It is my favorit tree for bonsai. |

Thank you for your comments Marija,
I’m working in new content for the page, but I don’t have much time. There are more sections in the Spanish version because my English is not good enough for translate some content and some old articles that was published in a Spanish magazine years ago, if there is anybody who wants help me in the translations we can put more content in the English version as well. I didn’t know that in Croatia you have wild olive trees; I have the impression that in your country you have snow and frost very often |

In the island of Menorca, where I live, we have the same plants.
Do you have as well the “wild olive tree” Olea europaera var. sylvestris? |

We have wild olive - Olea europaea sativa, it grows spontaneitly in nature, without influence of people. This one is about 1500 years old.Trunk diameter (near the ground) is 10.4 m! Protected as "monument of nature" Last edited by marija hajdic : 19-Feb-2006 at 03:37 PM. Reason: wrong pictures |
