The natives are restless
Native trees, got to love them, they always seem to be the first to bud and the last to lose leaves. Here's one of my natives, ready to become all I can make it. This was a club action tree that didn't apeal to the masses because it was a native. A little work on this silver maple, just may do the trick.

Gday Alasdair! I'm afraid that argument doesn't wash - I try it on the Good Lady all the time, and she never falls 4 it. FlyBri. PS:I do believe that native species are great 4 Bonsai, it's just a matter of working out their habits/requirements. And getting the purists 2 look past Japanese maples and Junipers. I'll try 2 post some of my native trees in training soon.

Sycamore everywhere is a complete pain in the ass.
Useless as bonsai - unless you can prove to me otherwise... Jerry

acer pseudoplatanus i believe?
anyways, the leaves on full grown sycamoresover here are rather huge, but those on my collected specimins remain rather small. I would love to proove you otherwise, but i have nothing worth as of yet, just bonsai-in-training. Im going to have to borrow my dads digital camera and snap an image of the size of my small leaves next to a full size one, before they all migrate for the winter! The leaves on my potted trees are around 3cm across, nothing like the full size beasts.
