A Northern California Get-together At The Sushi House
I was thinking we might have a bonsaiTALK get together for the Northern California folks. Maybe Kazuki's dad's sushi restaurant in Palo Alto would be a good place? I haven't eaten there, but it comes highly recommended
![]() Looking over the calendar for a tie-in to a bonsai related event, I found only the San Mateo Show on September 20 or 21, Sat/Sun, which the directions website tells me is 16 miles (23 minutes away) The Sushi house is closed on Sunday, so it looks like it would need to be Saturday for a late Lunch or Dinner. Please let me know if there is interest in this event! This is, of course, contingent on Kazuki's dad's willingness to have his fine establishment overrun by bonsai people. Here's a snippet of a review I found online. Sushi House $ 158 Town & Country Village Palo Alto , CA (650) 321-3453 Mon-Fri 11am-2:30pm, 4:30pm-8pm, Sat 4pm-7pm, closed Sun Sushi House is a no-frills establishment that serves a large variety of sushi as well as a number of teriyaki and noodle dishes and traditional appetizers. Everything is very casual - you go up to a counter, place your order from the lighted menu board above you, find a seat and wait. The staff here is warm and friendly and the sushi is very good for its price. This is a good place to go to satisfy your sushi cravings without burning a hole in your pocket. Recommended selection: California roll.

my dad says he fine with everything, he just need to know how many people (if its a large group) will come in advance so he can "reserve" tables for us. not that big of a place (maximum occupancy:38 [i think])

Mmmm, slurping udon, eating sushi, talking bonsai - sounds like heaven. If I was especially keen to never see my girlfriend again, I'd join you. Have a few cups of Sawanotsuru for me!
Oh, and take some pics. Fish.

We're Going!
Well it looks like the turnout will be five or (most probably fewer)
I will be bringing my wife, Kathy, and daughter Melissa. We plan to hit the San Mateo show towards closing time, and then drop by the Sushi House towards 6PM. Addresses are in the link above for the show and the first post in this thread for the Sushi House. This link below should provide directions from the show to the sushi house: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/...3d&lr=2&x=0&y=0 Hope to see someone there! Regards, Matt
