I agree....have you considered a photo taken from a fixed position for each stage. That way everyone can see the pot in the same position with the camera in the same position with each stage.

Just a thought.

Just dawned on me that I did not explain that wire scaffolding I use too well.
After the first tree is secured to the pot (if necessary) all the other trees are tied to that one. It always seemed too difficult to do that below ground so I just tie the trunks together.
The relationship between the trunks can be exactly positioned this way. Even slight bends in a trunk can be made.
It makes for a stable composition. After the roots grow out a bit the scaffolding is taken off naturally.
This is a picture of a forest planting I did in Louisiana last week. It shows how the trees are tied together.

What a great idea! I've always had trouble trying to get precise positioning of trees tied at the bottom.

Thanks for the tip.

Great advice Ron...The forest undertaking is looking great too...I look forward to seeing the progress, this could become one of those projects that everyone in the bonsai world is aware of...Like "Goshen"...It is really nice to know, we are getting the oportunity to see this as it comes into being...

Thanks for sharing this with us...

Behr

Not too sure about that Goshen stuff. Maybe Ron's folly or even Ron's firewood.
All I know is that I am enjoying myself immensely. First time I am paying attention to even the smallest detail in a very long time. Really thinking about what I am doing. I am excited.
Thanks to this forum I am able to share that excitement.
All together not a bad way to spend some time.
Even if I never get to finish this project (or it dies) it will all be worth it. I am having a blast. Not to mention learning a lot.
I got 6 more trees into the planting today. The total is now at 22 trees. The last two of them in a heavy rain.
The wife stopped by the shop and made me quit for the day. I was soaked. Got the standard lecture from the wife about doing stupid things and forced to change into dry clothes.
I feel like I was bad and Mom sent me to my room. Can't play anymore.
