My Wife Is Lucky ;o)

I was wandering around the shop today counting trees. I know it isn't an exciting thing to do but I really don't have a life anyway and am easily amused.
I was surprised to find that I have 56 bald cypresses. One for every year that I have been on the face of this earth.
My wife says we have way too many bonsai (both here and at the shop) so I have decided to downsize. Make a little forest out of those cypresses ;o). After all how can she complain when I, more or less, replace 56 trees with one bonsai.
Mind you I will have to get one more to make an odd number in that forest. I'll have to sneak that one by her. Done that before so I think I will be ok. I'll tell her it is a "club tree". Worked before.
One more is good. My birthday is New Years Eve and that will work out swell.
Last week I was in Louisiana for some workshops and stopped by Guy Guidry's place. He had this nice forest planter. I bought two of them. The one pictured below is the smaller of the two. That will do just fine. Bit of a squeeze but, it will work.
I think my wife is lucky. She has a man that is willing to compromise. Not many bonsai people would be so kind and willing to downsize their collection.
In a couple of weeks the trees will be dormant and I can start on it. Might have it done by spring. Will keep you posted on how it goes.
I am thankful for one thing though. My wife is dead set against having a loaded gun in the house. That will help out a lot.

Won't that be a little too heavy to carry around yourself?

If I asked my wife to help move something that big, she'd make me buy a shotgun (I got rid of mine when we married), and then shoot me with it!

This will be an amazing forest. I'd love to see it next time I'm in your area (i'm usually there about every 4 years).
