Hi Adam,

Nice little site. The only point I would make is that it should be "pictures of my trees" and not "picture's of my tree's"...

Apostrophes are troublesome things...

Regards,

TB

Adam,

Sorry to be the one to bring this up, but you have quite a few copyrighted images of bonsai on your site and you need to remove them. I'm not sure that Boon would like your having his juniper on your mainpage, shown almost as if it were your tree. Also, "The Bonsai Enthusiast" is no longer the name of the publication (since about 2 years ago) that you have a link-to banner at the bottom of your mainpage.

I also notice that you have some images there that are distorted because the width/height has been altered. You can fix this by making sure to maintain proportion when you resize images (your own, personal images).

Really, this will be much more interesting a site when it is about your bonsai rather than just about bonsai in-general (plenty of those around). Show us what you're doing with your trees. That much more interesting than showing trees from Bonsai Today magazine covers. ;-) Keep working on the site and keep us up to date on what you've got.

Kind regards,

Thanks for your input Chris and Andy. That pic of Boons juniper is copyrighted, but I have contacted boon and he said I could use this picture for my site. I will make this site more about my bonsai in the future. I need to get a digital camera to post my tree's on there, and on this forum. What other images besides Boon's tree do you no are copyrighted.

"What other images besides Boon's tree do you no are copyrighted."

Well, every image I saw was an image from Bonsai Today magazine, a bonsai book or from other artists. You may not use pictures that you did not take yourself - unless you have permission from the photographer or unless the image was offered expressedly as public domain or unless you have purchased the image from the photographer.

The bottom line is, no one will want to go to a site where they see the same old trees they've seen for years in books and magazines. If it is your site (Adam's Bonsai), it ought to have Adam's bonsai in it and not Mitsuya's bonsai, Kimura's bonsai, Manakitivipart's bonsai, Okamura's bonsai, etc...

I look forward to seeing your bonsai there. Take care!

Kind regards,

Your absolutely right Andy, It is called Adams Bonsai, but I feel since it is my site that I can put up pictures of trees that are not mine. All those tree's you say that I have to remove, I dont think I will because I got permission from all the owners of these tree's to use them on my site. It hard for me to put my bonsai up there as I dont have alot of money to afford a digi and cant find anyone with one to let me borrow it. I would love to have this site all about my bonsai but right now this is how it will be till I can post my tree's there. What does everyone think about this?

Adam:

Since you have asked for criticism, here it is.

First, the site is nicely laid out. The "guest" trees are beautiful.

I appreciate your honesty in saying that you've only been doing bonsai for two years, but, then, why should we look to you for care advice, when there is so much expertise available in other locations?

Why should we bookmark this site when the trees there have already been seen?

Sorry to be so direct. It is a good effort, but the content is nothing new.

And do watch those apostrophes.

Bart,
Good questions, I didnt ask anyone to come to me for care advice. I did not ask people to bookmark my site. I aksed for criticsm on my website. You gave your opinion. Sorry the content is not fresh or new but, I have really worked hard on this site. Just stating my opinions.

Leesa,
Never thought about those new disposables with the picture disk, thanks for bringing those up.
