Congratulations and wishes for a speedy sale of your other property!!!!

I drool at the thought of finding a place like that. Perhaps someday right after I win the lottery, eh?

Well here's hoping the weathers good for fencing and building corrals and paddocks and such. My wife and daughters are all into horses quite heavily (hence the reason why I'll need to win the lottery to get a place of our own) so I have a good idea of the work you're letting yourself in for if you're going to board horses

Congrats Newt, I just bought a house too and I am moving in on Friday. It is not nearly as large as yours, but there is plenty of room for my plants and not too much grass to mow so I'm all about that.

Anyhow, GL with the house and hopefully everything will be smoother for you than it has for me

Wow, Newt.

Many congratulations. A really nice spread.

That sort of property would be over $1,500,000 at our land Prices!
or even triple that if nearer London.

What I would do with a workshop like that!!!
That would make a nice pottery !

I'm working on the wife to get over with you folks A.S.A.P. (If you'll have me )

Oh well, must get ready for the day job, i'll keep dreamin'

Please keep us updated.

Sincere best wishes,
Ian.

Thank you all!

Yes, you don't see this much land for this price at all. When I saw it and found that they were only asking $150,000 I was amazed, and I talked them down a little from there! The funny thing is I was driving past it for probably 2 months figuring that I could not afford it, then I stopped and looked at some other land right down the street (9.2 acres and it only had a barn, no house) and found that they were asking $85,900 for it. I figured what the hey, I might as well stop and grab a flier (from my new place) and was plesantly suprised!

I am always amazed when others clue me in on what property costs in other parts of the world!!!

Take care!!!

Gee Newt,

Thanks for the info.

See, there is the rub with me. I have $400,000+ equity in my house, so enough to retire early, move out with you guys, buy a spread - mortgage free, set up a small pottery business, employ a few local folk to really get up production of the cast products (sorry Dale) while I do the handmade stuff.
and still be left with $150k + as a nest egg !!!

Am I brave enough to do it ? Will Uncle Sam let me in

Oh well, more practice with the pots for now , while I keep working on the wife.

With fuel here at $8.50 per gallon, its getting more tempting all the time.

(Just excuse me, I'm 45, so have just reached MY mid-life crisis )

Best,
Ian.

Congratulations Ian! I wish you the best of lucks in seeling your olod house. I was stuck with 2 mortgages for about 8 months a couple of years ago. Those were tough times and we took a loss on the eventual sale. Ironically that house no longer exists. It's gone with the wind (Katrina took it).

Newt, congratulations! We are in the same boat now! I will be posting photos of our new spread (naming is in the works) on my thread as soon as the unpacking is a little further along. Funny, our house is much older and our workshop is much newer than yours! We only have five acres, but it's more than enough to grow sticks to put in pots!! Woohoo, buddy! Ain't country living grand?

The previous post should have been directed to Newt, the future owner of what looks like a very nice place in Michigan. Sorry, didn't get enough caffeine today.

Ian,
Let me know, sounds like you could build on the other peice of land and still come out ahead. There are tons of houses for sale here right now as many jobs have been going out of the country. Right now we have one of the worst unemployment rates in the nation. Thank goodness I work for a company that does not believe in layoffs or firing. They keep a high # for temps and contractors to prevent that. I'll be your apprentance if you make it (in my spare time).

KC,
I grew up in the country and am very happy to be moving back!!!! I am so sick of neighborhood living. Can't wait to start on the new motocross track! Hope I don't spook the horses too bad! Good luck with your home sale!!!!

Jorge,
Thanks! Take care!!!

Newt,
Nice looking spread. I could use a bit more here.
Man, I wonder if "Bonsai Today" is gearing up for the ad space for all the new land owner BonsaiTalkers' new businesses next year!

Ian, it sounds like you REALLY need the extra income.
Are you going to bring those guys' factory, kilns, glazes, machines and molds with you??

Hey, how far is it, and how much does it cost you to drive across England?

It'll be interesting for you to see the difference in hand made pot market in the USA compared to Europe....and tree sales for that matter.

Dale, just gettin' by
