Mugo Pine Pruning

Am I too late or too early to prune my mugho pine.
There are 4 buds on many of the branches.
Is there a good website with mugo pine pruning tips?
Any help would be appreciate.

Pine pruning depends alot on what you are trying to accomplish by pruning. And the timing is often critical. There were several threads here on mugos not too long ago, you should do a search and read through them.

Vance Wood is the local Mugo expert. I'm sure he will see this post and give you some pointers.

It is really important that you define or describe exactly what you want to do and why you want to do it. I know this sounds like a lot of hooey but it is important. Your question is kind of vague and though some pruning issues can be resolved this time of year, some others could be disasterous.

Hi Vance.
I have an initial design that I have created. I am looking to lenghten some branches, and create more ramification on others. I also need to repot. This pine has been in the same pot for 5 years.

Generally I repot and prune at the same time. I usually do that procedure from the middle of June through the first of August contrary to what some may tell you about doing it in early spring. If you could post a picture of the tree we might be able to give you a little more specific advise, but without seeing what it is we are talking about, what I say and what you understand as what I said, could be two different things. I have been growing Mugos this way for thirty-something years.
