bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Most Favorite Tree in Your Collection

Howdy All,

I wanted to get a fun thread going. Whats your most favorite tree in your collection? Maybe it has sentimental value, maybe you have grown it from a seed, maybe alot of things. Now I know many of your collections are extensive, so try your best, and a two way or three way tie is cool as well! Pictures would be great, along with any stories about your bonsai!

Looking forward to see what you post!,
Anthony*

P.S. I'll post mine when I get to it as well!

mine would have to be a chinese elm i rescued out of a skip from a garden centre. it hadn't been watered for a while so dropped its leaves, i merely gave it some TLC and it is back to full health!

This is a close one with this being my favorite. There are a couple I like better, but this one looks great now and the others don't change much. Fall comes slow to Fresno.

Hope you like it, Bonsai-al

Thumbs up

Really good colors on this one Al. For me they go really well with the stand you chose also.

O83, This tree had been in a training box for two years. I had been developing the branches and ramifying the crown, which is still going on. While last year I felt that I could finish the tree in a show pot, I did not have the correct one to place the tree in. I have been looking for the correct pot for three years. I have not found it yet. I did see an unglazed tokonome from Bonsai Northwest at the convention that I almost bought for it. It was the correct size and shape but unglazed. I am holding out for a glazed pot.

This pot was a pot that I purchased about 10 years ago fror a corkbark elm. The tree is long gone, but I kept the pot and sold the tree in a plastic pot. This was the most appropriate pot I had for a trident maple like this. The color is subtle, the rounded corners soften the lines of the pot. There is no lip which again softens the pot, and the bamboo accent conveys a feminine image which helps make it work with this tree. I have spoken to Jim Barrett, and he is bringing 4 pots for me to see at the GSBF after Thanksgiving sell at the Huntington the day after Thanksgiving. Hope to see some bonsaiTALK folks there.

Al
