mold on my deadwood?
upon close inspection of the shari on a cedrus i have i noticed small splotches of grey/green. It looks like mold to me. I have lime sulphured the deadwood a few coats but i think it may of gotten some spray from the rain onto the shari but i'm not sure. I've since moved it to a better covered area and i'm wondering what i should do in terms of preventative action and to get rid of the mold right now.
I dont even know if this is a serious health issue for the tree so if anyone can enlighten me I would be very happy. |

It's not a serious health issue...just a cosmetic one.
What you describe occurs frequently on my trees too, and what I do is just take some soapy water and a tooth brush and wash it off. Try to use a biodegradable soap, of course. ...or you can just take a small wire brush and brush it off. This is less likely to occur if your tree is exposed to lots of sunlight...but even with sunlight it can still happen. Don't worry about it, just clean it off. Robert
