Literati?

Is literati (bunjin) a style strictly reserved for conifers or can it be applied to deciduous trees?
Thanks in advance.

Jorge

Although the literati style looks nice and is most commonly seen on conifers, deciduous trees can look quite nice when trained into the style. Personally I think as long as you like what the tree looks like then it really does not matter.

It's a style that's frequently used with Japanese Flowering Apricot (Prunus mume)

Satsuki azaleas look great as bunjin! Also you can get away with using younger trees in this style.

Keep swinging!

Gday Jorge & Co!

I'm in the process of trying to create Literati forms for both a Eucalyptus polyanthemos and a Melaleuca linariifolia. While neither tree is deciduous, they are also not conifers. I hope to show my progress soon.

Thanks.

FlyBri.

Bonsaimon just posted a sweet literati ebony to the gallery here. Perfect timing to go along with the research in this thread.
