light needs during winter
i have this area under the stairs of the house we rent that is cold all winter. it has no light though. i think this should be alright for the decidious, but what about pines, junipers, and cedars? dont they grow alittle during the winter and need light?

They're dormant, so no growth beyond perhaps a little root growth is going on. however, if they're not outside you'll still need to keep an eye on watering.
