Learning From My Mistakes
Well I have spent this summer watching my trees and trying to learn from them. This lesson is a hard one for me because I really liked this tree. This is what happens when you forget to water one morning when the temps. are 100 degres plus.I had moved the tree to a shader spot and when I came home that afternoon it was to late. The leaves started turning brown then the branches then the whole tree turned brown. To prevent this from happening again I'm going to build 2 benches 1 in a sunny location and 1 in a shady location that way I wont forget to water.
p.s. anyone want to buy a used tree also I have learned alot this summer so stay close to your computer for the bonsai adventures of sankastaff![]() |

Did that happened in only one day
wow...!!! I have forgot or had no time somedays (not in a row) but, the trees have been pretty well, the worst thing that has happened is that one had all the leaves all folded, but I watered it, and next day... All alive again ... well, but I don't know maybe the weather here is more forgiving... because I remember, once I recommended to defoliate some young seedlings, but for me it's a really normal thing to do, since I get them back budding in 3 days... but, that's maybe one problem with my posts Maybe, things are not the same here in the tropics ![]()

I believe the tropics are more forgiving about forgetting to water - maybe because of the humidity, dunno. I've lost a tree from it getting too hot from one day of not watering. People at work thought I was crazy last summer, because I would go home every day to water my bonsai's. I was watering them in the mornings, then mid-afternoon. Finally I found a better balance with a bit of shade. Now I only have to use the mid-day watering as an excuse to get out of the office for awhile.

Sanka Maybe you should add a little more of something for water retention. That might give you a coushin for watering. Especially in a nursury pot you should have plenty of room for maybe some sp moss or something. Just a thought.
