Upset Kusamono Grudge Match

Many of the plants that we use for kusamono are simply beautiful weeds. They aggressively spread across the container and need "weeding" to keep the kusamono in trim. But sometimes there is a battle between plants when more than one aggressive plant cohabits the same pot.

One recent example was dwarf bamboo planted with dwarf equisetum. It took a few months but the equisetum trashed the bamboo!!!

So equisetum wins the first round... do we have any kusamono plants that have beaten dwarf equisetum? Would wood sorrell beat dwarf equisetum Any takers

Cheers,
Jim

I'd put my money on the violets. They are insidious.

Mondo grass, with its huge fleshy roots and fast growing tendancies will most likely push any partner from the pot.

Glyphosate 360! It doesn't even have to be in the pot to 'ko' what it sets it's sights on

I think Wood Sorrel would overrun anything. It's like the Greco-Roman Wrestler of the weed world... a real grapler.

Weeded out Irish Moss, but it took a couple of years and it was only in one pot. I still can't get rid of Oxalis. I have a buddy that is fighting to get rid of Artillary Fern. It even seems to supress Oxalis! I'm glad I don't have any of that. --Jim

Nothing trumps horsetail! They've been at it for 300 million years, and even if you pull all the above ground parts they regenerate, from even the smallest bit of root. And, even if you do get the whole plant, the spores can lie dormant in the soil for more than thirty years.

They are like the original grass. How appropriate that they be used in a grass planting.
