Korean Hornbeam
I was very given a korean hornbeam which is approx 8 yrs old standing approximately 12 inches high already potted up though still only having a trunk 1/2 dia.
The tree overall as a nice form with a reasonable balance of branches however like the trunk they are very long and thin. However the worst feature of the tree is that it only as approx one or two pairs of leaves at the end of each branch. What can i do to induce a surge of back budding? The overall structure of the tree is ok but in my opinion would benifit from planting out in the field next winter, is it best to do this in the autumn or ealy spring. comments please |
