Gotta do what you gotta do, as long as we don't seperate/damage the cambium to badly there isn't a problem with breaking branches into place. Ficus is a species very good for this, they heal quickly. The last pic I posted of a ficus in training the leader has been snapped upward into place, I don't think I would be as comfy doing it to a tree like he has there, nor do it so..skillfully. He must have done this type of thing 10,000 times as that was some very percise work. Man, what a cool tree that is in the vid!! Thanks for posting this up Hans.

The most amazing thing to me was that he broke the branch with one hand. I would always use both hands in such a risky technique.

Thank you for sharing that gem with us Hans. When the master breaks a branch like that, it is deliberate, when I do that it is "OH ****". Nice transformation as always.

Throughout the whole thing, looking at that raggedy mess, I was thinking that, well in a few years or so, after letting various things grow back out for further pruning, and working on the trunk, etc. etc. it would probably look a bit better... and then they showed the final frames. I think I'll just go grow a philodendron.

That was crazy...yet cool, so much skill :O
I just liked how Mr Kimura just breaks the branch and no flicker of distraught in his face whatsoever.
I also found it funny how there was an instant murmuring of disbelief and most likely shock of the branch breaking, I was mesmerised too lol.

So do we think it was an accident or deliberate?

I did't see any Super/crazy glue come out so probably deliberate?
