Noriyuki Morita I also can say that its through his movies I first heard of bonsai. (me girlfriend reakons she new bonsai before that,... but a dont think she could identify a daisy from a buttercup). Anyways, sorry to see the wee Man has passed on. Same here, the first time I saw a Bonsai was in the first movie Karate Kid. Though I didn't try growing one then and I tried many time years after.

I can't believe he's gone. I really like the symbolic meaning of bonsai in the movie and wow, can't believe he's dead. Karate Kid was a great movie, it is one of the few martial arts genre movies that is focused less on fighting and more on psychological development. We only see daniel actually fighting for a couple minutes at the end, but the majority of the movie is composed of training, just like training bonsai-- it takes the longest time to start a tree from nothing and into a bonsai, but when you finally get to that final stage, you realize that it was the training that was the most important part. Goodbye Mr. Morita, thank you for your contributions
