just a question-Learn to Develop Stock?

As I read the posts on this forum I wonder if there are any members out there who would like to realy learn how to best grow out young stock? Create an excetable root base and proper tapor, give concideration to trunk line and exceptable branching. If you would like give me a private e-mail, or just post on this thread. I think that I have some good techniques to pass on.

Being new to bonsai... I am very interested in new techniques. I would love to be able to look at young stock and see the future of the material. I do not yet have the experience to know what the tree will do and what I can impart to young stock especially. Please do tell!

just a question

Matt: You are in an exelent aeria for growing a large variety of material. Also Orange County gives you axcess to many exelent bonsai nurserys and Bonsai Clubs. My first question is what material would you like to develop and what is your mental picture of the finished tree? (because bonsai is living material it is truly never finished as long as it is alive)
Treekutter: I am asking about both the material and the growing beds as the material will affect the growing methods.

Hi Ripsgreentree,

I would like to hear your suggestions for developing elms, baldcypress and junipers.I usally end up with youngish unworked nursery stock to begin with. Also I currently don't have a grow bed area so I mostly work with large boxes and pots.Thanks.

Glenn:

I am interested in maple, oak and liquidamber, but I am open to anything. I am in a very small apartment with very little room. I will have to either claim some land at my parents home (if it will help develop better trees) or work with growing boxes. I would love to hear your opinion.

By the way, I am very new to bonsai and will eventually try my hand at pines of all types (I think this is your speciality??) I have time on my side (only 26) so if I should start some black pine (?) with an eye toward the future please guide me! I have some seeds that were given to me as a gift!

I am an open book and would love to learn from someone with so much experience.

Thanks for all of your help,

Matt
