That second tree is a California juniper recently donated by Harry Hirao. He also donated several stones in his wife's memory. Did you see those?

Looks like a fun visit. Thanks for sharing.

I have a new respect for Matt uploading all of the exhibit photos into the gallery. After editing and posting, it took three or four hours to post them all.

Thanks for posting these, Charles.

Now you should be sharpening your tools for next year's Big Show in DC and the new talent competition!

I am in the process of convincing the parents to allow me to go. I am trying to convince them that allowing me to go on this trip, will allow them to go on their vacation to Hawaii by themselves. I was in fact the one teaching them how to use the Metro, so I should be able to get my way around the city alone.

Does anyone know what hotel the convention will be at?

"I was quite suprised that this little area of beauty was tucked back in such a bad neighborhood."

Charles,
I think the arboretum was there before the neighborhood became so "bad" :>)
When doing the show there in spring I stay over on Annapolis Rd., although I think the couple motels near the arboretum are getting more conscious about safety and income. BTW, rooms are a bit cheaper on Annapolis rd too.

Nice pics. Jim's portulacaria reminded me of a few folks this last weekend at a show sale who looked at a couple nice portulacaria I had and said the patented " Jade plants don't make good bonsai". I had to go into the jade vs. portulacaria speech ( ho-hum) and told them to search out Jims collection pics on the computer....that should educate them a tad!

For WBFF05 info you can find all updated stuff on their site and links on BCI and ABS I believe. I'm SURE there'll be busing over to arb for something. I remember at the BCI 96 convention you could get a ticket for a barbecue and tour after hours one night. It was pretty good although as I remember they were running low on bbq chicken.

Thanks for the shot of the new memorial . When I was down this spring it was just opening and I didn't get over to look.
BTW, did you get over to Arlington cemetary? The most sobering site of Washington in my opinion. The thought of that plus the recent D-day commemorative shows of the cemetary in France surely can snap you back to reality.

"I was in fact the one teaching them how to use the Metro, so I should be able to get my way around the city alone."

That'll surely be good experience for when you tour Japan and need to navigate trains, subway and buses maps

Thanks,
Dale

Dale,
We quickly visited Arlington during a night tour. The visit was fast because most people do not like to visit cemetaries at night.

Adam,
Thank you for the link. It looks like it will be at the Hilton. That was not far from where we stayed.
