Just A Few Photos From The National Arboretum

Over the weekend, my family took a trip up to Washington D.C. The trip was mainly for a business conference that my dad was attending, but he brought is along to go sight seeing while he was busy.

On the first day, we visited the National Arboretum; mainly to see the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum. I was quite suprised that this little area of beauty was tucked back in such a bad neighborhood.

Here are a few photos from my visit. I am just going to share a few because many of you have visited the Arboretum before.

I remembered this tree from convention photos online a few months back. The tree is now part of the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum collection.

I am a stone fan, so I thought I would add in a picture of one of the suiseki that they had on display. The skills of the daiza carver for this stone are quite impressive.

Here is a recent addition to the collection. This is on loan from Jim Smith. They brought back the bougainvillea that he had displayed for Jim to revitalize back to life .

I also thought I would add a photo of the WWII memorial for all of the WWII vets that have not visited it.

Hi Charles,

Neat trip!

I'd be happy to create a National Arboretum section in the Gallery if you'd care to contribute these photos (and more?) to it.

Regards,

Matt

Hi Charles Here are some general notes for you and anyone who needs to upload to one of the particular galleries.

1. The New US Arboretum Gallery itself is here under Special Events (no photos yet)
http://pictures.bonsaitalk.com/show...cat=542&thumb=1
2. When you are uploading there is a drop-down box where you can select the folder where you'll upload the photos. You can choose U.S. National Arboretum off that list. If you make a mistake, I can move it for you, so don't worry about it. You can report it if you want.
3. When you're uploading a lot of photos, sometimes it makes sense just to hit the browser back arrow once (or twice) after you see the notification message that the upload is complete. If I remember correctly that might preserve some of the options you selected and save you a bit of time.
4. A good size is maximum of 640 pixels wide or tall. If you go over that size, it will trigger a "medium size photo" to be created. Takes up more room on the server, but some photos are worth it.

Please let me know by PM if you have any questions.

Regards,

Matt

I am about halfway through editing and uploading the photos. I will continue later tonight. For now, I am off to dinner.

Thank you for adding a new section. From now on, I will upload the photos in this section to save you the hassle of moving them.
