Juniper problems
I have a friend who has recently repotted 2 collected from nature blue star junipers, he dug them up over a year ago, and has now repotted into suitable pots. He is having a problem with the needles getting brittle, and yellowing, we do know the bark scratch test and have done it (still alive) he wants to know if anyone has any tips on keeping them alive and healthy during the stress or repotting.

YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME
|
!
You need to give some additional info....to start a picture would help. Also how much roots were collected with the tree? When repotting, how much roots were removed? How much of the branches were removed? Are you sure it was ready to be repotted? or did it want to remain in the collection container for longer? How well was it growing in the collection container before the repot?
I'm sure there are additional questions but this will get us going. Jay

Do not re-pot, cut, jin or wire collected material for 3 years after collection (conifers)!!! I beleive this is the first rule of collecting. Likely the hardest thing to actually follow through with though. They are over stressed. Mist a couple times a day, do not overwater the soil and cross your fingers.

The liquid your mom has, is that Superthrive? There are some facilitators in helping the shock factor reduce while transplanting/repotting. However, I agree with Newt, letting the tree assimulate in it's new enviorment for two or three years is even better, but definately use Superthrive in any case - only helps.
