Jack Pine

I recently saw these Jack Pine seeds for sale for 5$ and thought, what the hell. But I was wondering if anyone knows anything about em. How long it takes to germinate, the growing zone they like, and so on.

Even germinations process for this.

Hi Boniface,
I did a search here on the forum and found one post in which the author said that they just planted 5 Jack Pine seeds in soil and they all sprouted. I found a little info elsewhere and it all seemed to say that Jack Pine seeds were easily sprouted and that they are very hardy trees. Hope this helps.

Jack Pine is very hardy. Zone 1- to zone 6 or 7. Likes cold and needs cold. Acid soil. Full sun, dry soil, sandy soil. Seeds have no dormancy period and will geminate imediately after collection.
Native from the Arctic Circle, South to Northern New York to Minnesota.

Thanks for taking the time to look it up. So I think that I just flushed my 5$ =). Seeing as I live in zone 9 and it gets pretty damn hot during the summer months. Like and easy 100F, and not TOO cold during the winter months. I'm going to go ahead and plant them and see what happends.

This one guy in another thread said that it was bet to best to put them in the ground dirrectly and just watch. What do you say to that? Could I put them in rock-wool under a 400 watt light?
