Idea's On Initial Styling For This Cryptomeria Japonica Elegans??

OK, just took a few hours to reveal the trunk base/nebari on this cryptomeria elegans. I bought it last fall, their was no real 'bark' on it at the time, but now the lower 1/3 has fine looking bark, isn't as flexible and I'm getting concerned I should make a plan for it and get started. I can see it's strong apical dominance with lowermost branches notably thinner than a few about 1/3 or less from the top! I've got a few time windows at present to take more than my usual few minutes watering/pinching so wanted to reach out here for some ideas on progressing with some nursery stock as I've only been able to make it to one local club meeting to date.

(PS- Lee Valley multi quick clip nozzle attachment (narrow stream/rain/heavy rain/mist) http://www.leevalley.com/garden/pag...currency=1&SID= was great for misting roots and helping wash away soil in upper portion above major roots! You can change nozzles with hose still one etc, and great thumb lever to control flow on handle. no affiliation etc...)

This tree is very flexible and their's likely hundreds of options for it but none are jumping into my head so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Time revealed 3 good sized roots all on one face, one is nearly crossing another but I moved it somewhat in the repotting I did this afternoon. Left side major root is barely visible as I haven't yet trimmed off the hair roots above it, no need at this point to trim those I figured. This side with the 3 major nebari I'm now referencing as the front in the pics below.

could you repost these as individual attachments please?

Folks put a lot of work into virtuals and then posters reorganize their sites and it winds up looking like this

Left face

Right Side

Thanks!

LOL, another hard one. It's very hard to give a virtual bcos there are too many branches. Try to remove some of them and keep the thickest. Also, do a search on bonsai styles and see which one suits you best.

Happy, well i never I onestly thought that I was the only person with this specif variety of cryptomeria Japonica as bonsai (well i supose I still may be at the moment as yours is a little far from bonsai) every time someone sees mine they might have an incling that it is cryptomeria (often not even that) but they have no idea to the variety.

With yours it looks quite thin and without taper, my two options would be:
1: plant it out either in a grow box or in the ground let it get some girth so that in a few years time you have a peice of god material,
2: if you desperatley want to style it I think literai is the only otion, as even if you cut it right down you will have very little taper still.

Warning I have found that they are very apexily dominant so I pich harder at the top to readress the balance.

Jonny.
