YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME
|
Dude, as you probably figured out, when mentioned here, the IBC stands for http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ . That is their home page. There is a gallery and list. Many of the names you see here are there also.
I like both places but find myself more at home here. Hey some people like their martini shaken...some stirred..... Jay

IBC is infact the initials for the Internet Bonsai Club.
But there isn't too much bonsai done there. A lot of ego, and some bonsai maybe. I was there for a few years but gave it up (or was chucked off, depending on the current swing of what happened) I guess one could learn a few bonsai things on that list but mostly one learns the true meaning of frustration. But then maybe my experience was not the norm. I could have been the disruption. Been known to be one on occasion ;o( I still have a lot of friends on that list and we still communicate privately. There is just something about the initials "IBC" that stirs things up. Makes things a bit meaner. I am a lot happier now that I am off that list. And I have learned a lot since I came to this one. At least here the list manager knows something about bonsai. But then you guys are quite nice also. A discussion here is much better than the arguments of IBC. But you will have to make up your own mind about it. I am after all a bit biased. |

>IBC is infact the initials for the Internet Bonsai Club.
>But there isn't too much bonsai done there. A lot of ego, and some bonsai maybe. Oh, come on Ron. Plenty of bonsai information comes through the IBC. I've been a regular poster almost since the day I started bonsai four years ago. I have found it tremendously helpful and have met a number of very good bonsai people through it. At times I have been offended by some of the posts, but I also know that it is very difficult to get through life with a thin skin. Sure, there are a lot of very experienced bonsai people on the IBC, and some of them have egos. Big deal. This sounds like what people say to me as their reason they stopped going to church--there are too many hypocrites there. As if there are no hypocrites in the rest of the world? > I was there for a few years but gave it up (or was chucked off, depending on the current swing of what happened) >I guess one could learn a few bonsai things on that list but mostly one learns the true meaning of frustration. Sounds like sour grapes to me, whatever the reason you feel you are no longer on the IBC. <snip> >I am a lot happier now that I am off that list. And I have learned a lot since I came to this one. I'd be interested to know what you have learned here that you wouldn't have learned through the IBC. >At least here the list manager knows something about bonsai. But then you guys are quite nice also. A discussion here is much better than the arguments of IBC. There are no more arguments on the IBC than there are in this forum. Pound for pound there is absolutely no difference from what I've seen. This forum has its members who are irritants too. Just a part of life. <snip> Ron Martin This is an excellent forum and another great way to get to know some bonsai people in different parts of the world. And, there are a number of regular posters on this forum who also post on the IBC. Most people on both this forum and the IBC are decent people working on their trees. You must also consider that for the 500+/- on the IBC, probably only 10% at most post regularly. From what I understand that is pretty typical. Craig Cowing NY Zone 5b/6a

Well to each his own. You are entitled to your opinion as am I. We each must be happy in what ever course we take.
But I am sorry. Saying that one forum is no worse than any other isn't an excuse, it is a rationalization. Each must strive to better than the other . Not just as good. But then there is, after all room, for all of us on this internet. Hopefully there is also room for me to have an opinion. This forum, at least grants, me that right. I like it here because we do more in discussing the issues than dictating them. The exchange of ideas flow more freely. It is refreshing to say the least. But one thing I will grant you. In this instance I should have kept my opinion to myself. No good will come from my comments. It was done in bad taste on my part. It won't happen again. |

I usually look at the IBC forum on a daily basis. I've seen some great trees there. That's probably because it's a forum for professionals and semi-professionals. Because i'm neither I've decided to just read the IBC and not post there. There's a lot to learn there tough.
Here's a direct link to the forum to make things real easy. http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/a...tbonsaiclub&bn= regards, René |

I probably get over to IBC about once a month and post there less often than that. When i do post I usually get accused of impersonating Tony Tickle! Most of that bunch is a bit too uptight for me. I will agree though, there are some excellent trees that show up there.
Tony, the non tickle! |
