I need some advice
Hello everyone,
I have been involved with bonsai for just short of a year, it is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable hobbies I have partaken in. (i am in my last year of school [almost over ] and it is good to be able to relax and do something peaceful other than study). My first bonsai was a juniper procumbens, i have trained it as an informal upright, as it was fiarly easy and i didnt want to jump into the deep end straight away, it was very difficult with the wiring and all but gradually as the tree grew alot of the wiring came off and unfortunately, due to some of the very busy times with school i forgot to unwire some so there is a little bint of scarring/dents from the wiring but nothing that stands out. But we all learn from our mistakes. We are almost into spring here and it is starting to grow like wildfire so i completely unwired it today but gently used a bit of string to bring one of the branches slightly down. It is starting to look very good (still only young and i reckon in 18months it will be fine but just maintain the shape and the bonsai from then on) I have also placed onto it the gravel (just a general brown/light brown sort of colour and then used some white to represent water) and two japanese people sitting on a bench with an umbrella thing [i got it from the bonsai environment near me). What i need to ask some advice is i am looking into possibly getting another bonsai and start to train it (eventually). I want to try something different but nothing that really a beginner - experienced could handle. I was thinking perhaps one of the following (i will post a direct link to the picture):: http://www.bonsainet.com.au/treestock/treestock.htm On the above link i was thinking about the bottom left. it is a type of pine. The other one I have always liked are the acacia Howiitti's (weeping willow). I am not too sure what would be the best, i can ask when i get out there, and my very experienced aunty is going to come with me but I just want to get a broad opinion. If anyone could recommend and types to look into please let me know Also, i am in Australia and i am not too sure what is available but if anyone else from Aust reads this and can give me some ideas that would be great!!regards, Michael |
