I Just Returned From The Midwest Bonsai Show

I just returned from the Midwest Bonsai Show at the Chicago Botanical Gardens this weekend.

A lot of great trees, people and vendors. Pictures to come as soon as they are developed.

Hey Gary, can't wait for the pics. Is this the show that caught so much flak last year that Warren Hill judged and threw out some trees because they had no stands? Did you shoot a pic of the best of show, and your favorite. I find that personal favorites are far and away some of the best trees.

Hey, I was there too.. the first show I've ever been to. It was extremely hard to resist the urge to buy many trees. Quite an amazing collection of trees there, caused me to head to the nursery right afterwards.

Never mind Gary, I found your link , and it provided me with all the gory details of the show last year. I'll bet there were a few tailfeathers ruffled on that one. Did you show any trees in this show?

Al,
This year they had a very conservative Japanese judge. A stand was highly recommended.

I think best of show went to an Azalea and the gold cup went to a dwarf japanese maple(kytohime?)by Bill Valvanis. Bill donated a spectacular Trident Maple to the Gardens.
It's about 3' tall with a 6"-7" trunk.I have alot of picts. I'll pick them up and scan them as maybe tommorrow.

Ceberon,
I know. I spent a some money there. I bought this one nifty sprayer called a Yorkey from Japan. It connects to a plastic pop bottle and you can use it anywhere.
