Hydroponic Bonsai.. Was "Drip system experiment question.."
Well everyone... my gravity Drip system was not so great... The drip heads kept getting clogged. I have started just watering 3 times per day... If you read my other thread you know its pure lava rock in an indoor setup at the window...
Well I have decided I and am going to use an Ebb and Flow system to automatically water 3 times each day.. So far both "trees" seem to be loving the lava rock... (Ficus Retusa) All this experimentation came from my need to leave my trees alone a few days after November 23. I was looking for a way to water on a schedule without them dropping leaves from moisture stress... Im not crazy though.. its just that normal Automatic watering systems wont work for me since my tap water is horrible it kills my houseplants if I use it to long.. So it does not come anywhere near my bonsai... RMiller Last edited by rmiller042577 : 18-Oct-2006 at 12:11 AM. |

I did some extensive experimentation as have several others including Jerry Meslick. I used DWC which stands for deep water culture, one of the easiest and least expensive ways to grow hydroponically. I did well with willow, ficus, and cypress.
