It looks like this hurricane season will not be an easy one for those in the Southeast United States. Just three weeks after hurrican Charley has devastated many parts of Florida, another hurricane is on route to the southeastern area, Hurricane Frances. This morning on Fox News, Lauren Green reported that if the hurricane were to follow the path that has been predicted, they eye would go straight over Vero Beach. As the day has gone on, the predictions are aiming it to go further north, possibly into Georgia. They have, however, said that there is still a possibility that it could go south, depending on the conditions tomorrow. The people around here are keeping their fingers crossed that it will swing north, but our luck would be the misfortune of others. So, if the hurricane does happen to sway north as predicted, I will be sure to keep the board members who live in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina in my thoughts.
As of tomorrow, decisions will be made whether or not to have any preperations for the hurricane. If necessary, my trees will be moved inside on Thursday. I would also spend a good portion of that afternoon helping Jim Smith put all of his trees on the ground. He has much too many to put them inside. Lets all hope this one swings northeast and dissipates in the Atlantic ocean.

Charles,
Hope things go well for you on the east coast and hopefully like you said the hurricane somehow makes a northeasterly turn and stays out in the Atlantic for everyones sake. I can relate to your worries...my hometown (Port Charlotte, FL) was hit by Charley. I moved out to Vegas 5 1/2 years ago but all the time I lived in Florida I never thought a hurricane would ever hit the southwest coast! Well, my family is alright but two family members are still living off generators and both my dad and brother-in-law's bussiness were damaged pretty bad. Again, stay safe. Rob

Charles.
Last I heard this morning was that this latest hurricane is more of less headed towards Melbourne FL. That projection is about 5 days out and as you know is a bit shaky to say the least. Tomorrow or the next day should tell the big story. I wish all those that wind up in the path of this one the best of luck. My thoughts will be with you. |

It looks like we might just take the eye of this one. My family has decided not to evacuate, a decision that I completely disagree with. We are boarding up our house tomorrow and we are going to try and ride it out. Our house is wood frame and built before Andrew, so it is probably not the best house to be in during this hurricane. I will try and get online as soon as possible after the hurricane to let you know that I am okay. If power outages are anything like Charley, that may be a while.

well it's coming right for my little town! satellite beach barrier island. my family is leaving but i'm going to ruff it. the city is cutting the power off tomorrow for the whole barrier islands. so yep i'm holding down the fort. native americans servived worse.
most of everything on the news is propaganda to cause people to go out and buy everything so that markets and the economy doesn't take a huge hit. if i'm wrong and i get drowned in 20 feet of storm surge on my little barrier island so be it i'm just thankful i do not live in a condo some 20 feet from the ocean. those guys will block a lot of the wind and waves for me! |
