Humidity Trays necessary in Ohio?

Just curious if people in Ohio's climate use humidity trays or not. Would watering/misting them in the morning an evenings be enough for most species? Are there any that are particularly fragile in our climate?

Your 'climate' is kind of irrelevant when it comes to the trays, because they're only used indoors for tropicals, and indoors, with all it's electric or even other heat, is very dry no matter where you live. Spraying twice a day won't do it, however, so get the trays in place. Obviously in summer, your trees would be better off outside altogether, but if kept inside, would be happier in Hawaii than Arizona, but that's because heating systems are off and humidity is dependent on local conditions.

Oh, I should have specified. I only keep outdoor bonsai.

*sigh* No, just wondering if there's any point to it.

There is absolutely no reason to use humidity trays outside--unless you live in a desert-and even then they are of little value.

They're pretty unecessary indoors, too, as they provide very little, if any localized humidity.

Same with misting. If you're misting your trees outdoors--unless they are recovering collected junipers--can lead to fungal problems and overwatering. Skip it.
