maybe you could place a more inviting plant nearby, and if than doesn't work try a very weak electric fence, the weak ones aren't that bad. I used to bump into mine regularly, but test it yourself first before you use it on a small animal.

But I think it's just temporary and I'm looking for a better way to control the cat. Any input is appreciated. Bonhe
I use a general purpose pet/animal deterrent called Granny Smith's Bitter Apple Extract. You can find it in most pet supply stores. It's in a little white pump bottle with a green and yellow label, usually near the other save-the-furniture products. It's completely biodegradable and natural. I wouldn't spray it directly ON my trees though, just around them.

It fades within a week or so though, so you need to reapply pretty regularly. While cats and dogs hate the stuff, you'll have to jam your nose right into it to in order to smell it yourself.

Hope that helps.

Also, quit using kitty litter as substrate- what do you expect the poor cat to do when it finds a toilet in view? John
