Homeless No More!!!

Yay! The closing is finished on the new spread! We are moving in Friday to our beautiful rural 5 acres and farmhouse with fantastic workshop. The only thing left to buy is a garden tractor to cut those five acres of grass.

It's been a trying two and a half months, but it's all about to pay off. The only thing lacking is a name for this beauty.

How about it, folks? Any suggestions to name the place? Here are some guidelines:

Forget names like Bob, Mary, Ethel, et. al. I love the idea but the bride is a hater.

Make it grandiose. The farm must sound much bigger and better than it is. In the tradition of our president, I plan to be "all hat, no cattle."

If it can be significant, so much the better. We will be close to the Marais de Cygne river, so if you know French, you know this means "Swan Marsh." I wanted to go with "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!" Once again the bride is a hater. The name could relate to our Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Joey Trouble-ani and Bridget Jones, or to bonsai, or simply something like Tara, South Fork, Reata, etc.

I am begging for help! This won't be a full-blown contest, but if someone comes up with a name that we eventually decide to use, I will be sending you (inside the U.S. only) a lovely Japanese black pine seedling whick looks much older than its three years.

Whee! I'm a land baron!

Well, if the land is up out of the marsh and has any amount of rock associated with it (or the buildings are stone or brick...) how about Cairn Cygne (loosely translateable as either 'Swan Castle' or 'Pile of Rocks Where Nasty Hissing Birds Hang Out').

Hey I know it aint much but you asked....

Oh, and of course congrats on your new home!

Chris,
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! Five years into my five acres and I love it more everyday.

As for naming, we combined parts of our last names, using a little poetic license, and were both happy with the outcome.

You already have ston.....so, Stone-something, or something-Stone, etc. Just something to ponder.

Chris,
How about a linguistic nightmare?

"Zauber Schloss ob der Cygne" (Sorry Walter.... roughly translated to "Magic castle over the river Swan" or something a little more "Midwest" like "Corgie Mania and Bonsai Water Park", parking behind the shed.

Congrats,
John

Hi Chris!

Congrats! I'm looking forward to a space like that soon enough.

The word "USHA" is from the sanskrit and generally is translated as "light". However, in sanskrit literature the term also refers to the very first ray of sunlight to be seen at dawn. in mythology, it refers to the goddess of light as she enables light to happen to shine on the world. and where would your lovely bonsai be without sunlight and someone to protect that light?
