bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

heymikey podocarpus

someone asked over on the auction page (6 times?)

"How can we be sure this is a podacarpus?"

Well, we can't. It looks like a podocarpus to me. If you can't deal with that uncertainty - then don't bid. Sorry that I can't be more definative.

I've seen that submit button on the question bounce before, but 6x is a record!

The HeyMikey tree does look like a podocarpus to me. More specifically P. macrophylla

http://biodiversity.sci.kagoshima-u...u/inumaki-e.htm

I think this site shows P. macrophylla and microphylla on the left and right respectively

As well as a closeup of a particular nasty scale:

Matt

It looks more like a "monkey puzzle" tree to me...which is a type of podocarpus with stiff pointy leaves.....Auracaria bidwilli,i believe

I'm only looking at a picture though.

pootsie,

nope...not sure...Bob could probably tell us if it has stiff spiny leaves though.
