Helping A Beginner Style A Tree

When helping a beginner try and style a bonsai it can be very tough. You have to consider that they are not willing to wait the amount of time that we do. That means that you cannot remove some branches that you would normally remove. I have pretty much figured out a good method for persuading a novice how to listin to your suggestion when helping them style a tree:

1. Tell them that the way you chose to style the tree will increase the beauty of the tree.

2. If this does not work explain to them some of the basic rules on why this makes the tree more beautiful.

3. Most people are still stuborn about the way they want there tree to look. Saying that styling the tree the way you chose will make the tree the most valuable that it can be (it is sometimes helpful to give an estimate on value, lean to the higher end they won't know then).

4. If this does not work you simply help them style the tree the way that they wish to have it. Sometimes it is better to do this; if they wish to continue in bonsai they usually eventually start following the general rules.

By now you may wonder why I am rambling on , so I will stop. I am open to anyone elses suggestions on this.
