Harrogate Autumn Flower Show
Here are the photos from Harrogate autumn flower show (I am from Harrogate) held every year (there is also a spring show but that is only for pro's), it has become the biggest amateur show in Europe with 400+ trees this year and is run by my bonsai teacher Louis Hawksby (some of his trees are featured below). Although this is a large show it is not to say that all trees are brilliant as you will see (remember i took a cross section of photos from the competion as originally it was to exemplify the bad judging that had taken place).
Let me apologise for the delay in the posting of these photos, some of you will remember my post entitled the importance of a good judge, where I generally prattled (that might be an English word) on about the quality of the judging (in my opinion being poor) at the show, but since then I have had cold and my girlfriend has moved to france so my life has been shaken a bit. I have decided not to say which trees came where but from some of the photos you will probably be able to work it out as i feel it is not my place to openly critisce peoples trees without there consent online (if you PM me i will give these details privatley). the first set of photos were from the two pro's showing at the show (i will say when we enter amateur relms). Anyone wishing to show at the show next year PM me and i will give you details of who to contact closer the time. I respectfully ask that no one reply until i have posted all the trees.I will say when it is the last one. When i get my scanner working again i will show some of the photos from the 2002 show if there is a demand for them Jonny. P.S. unfortunatley I arrived late to the show and did not have time to take more than about 30-35 photos before clearing up time arrived and so had to ommit some very good trees (if you recall this was my second visit). The following trees are by Pinewood bonsai. |
