Unhappy Guess My Tropicals Have To Stay In Today

As a gentle reminder to all in the northern hemisphere, our favourite season will soon be upon us....

Actually this is a little early even for us up here in the 'Great White Nort' and it'll probably be gone by the weekend ... with any luck .

Yes, I have a few tropicals and sub-tropicals that I used to keep indoors year round when I first started into bonsai. After a few years of less than great results I decided to throw caution to the wind and now put them outside whenever I'm pretty sure its not gonna freeze. I've been bringing them in at night for the past couple weeks, as the forecasts have been for lows below 5C and I'm really not that brave , and putting them out for the day.

They do seem to like it better, though I still have nothing beyond what I would call twigsai, but I'm a patient man.

Hi Fletch

Gotta love it hey,
I think I read somewhere that Calgary has only about 170 frost free days a year (average).

I have my trees all safe in a temporary mini-greenhouse that's keeping them all above freezing...

Oh thanks Fletch!! As if the leaves starting to turn colors wasn't depressing enough. Where's global warming when you need it?

Oh well... guess I still have it better than you guys way up there

You guys who like the snow or haven't seen it sound like the guy in this old joke. This always goes around the northern areas around the winter. The story changes a bit from source to source, but its still pretty funny.

P.s. Some pretty raw language in it if that bothers anyone.

enjoy!

Fletch,

You wouldnt happen to own any Satzuki Azalea bonsai do ya? I am asking, cause I want to know how to winter them over in a zone 3/4 climate. This is my first year owning them.
