Are you looking for a freshly dug but stable untrained juniper..or a tree that may have been collected some time ago with some training already done?

Harry Hirao in Southern California has many junipers for sale in all states of growth. Send me a PM and I can furnish you his phone number.

You might be better off with Rocky Mountian Juniper, a very closely related tree. I have know several reputable growers/bonsaiist that haved aquired California Juniper and not one of them was able to keep the tree alive more than three years. It seems that they do not do well outside of California, for what ever reason is unknown to me----or anyone else that I am aware of. Unless the expense is of no problem and you think yourself experienced to succeede where many have failed I would suggest not doing it.

Vance is right. The poop is that humidity does 'em in. Don't know if it's just that no one has ever done it or that it can't be done. I for one have decided not to try with an expensive collected tree.

Hi,
Have had Californa Junipers in the nursery in the past, love the aura (too many John Naka images, perhaps?), for several years. The deadwood on the Rocky Mountain (or even some of the other species) is comparable, and the foliage is certainly better than on California. Plus, you don't have the constant battle to keep em relatively happy. Just a thought.
