Question grass

if i plant grass at the bottom of my bonsai will the grass rob the bonsai of nutrients. like will the grass take all of the nutrients from the soil and water?
if so what could i do to change this from occuring?

I'm not sure, but I think you'd also have to worry about the roots competing for space. I'm not sure about this though.

Holokai is correct. The tree roots would be competing for space with the grass roots. As for nutrients... it's not a matter of robbing nutrients but of having to share nutrients.

It is a peculiar suggestion that you would grow them together, so why do you ask?

Trees are pretty poorly suited to compete with grass in the space of a bonsai pot. The grass can populate rapidly, spreading by runners and stolon, and scores of weed seeds produced by each plant. Weeds also have an naturally intensive root system, the tree roots tend to be extensive, so it loses out in the confines of a pot. Evolution has really adapted grass to grow well in pockets of soil, so the tree is going to have a hard time as it is, without the competition!
