Gonna re-pot this, anyone know what it is?
Beautiful shiny waxy leaves, lots of back budding when i pinched the ends off supposedly has a yellow 'rose like' flower which i haven't seen. My mom wants to call it a 'rose plant' or 'rose tree' but can't really remember what it is.
I'd really like to know what this plant is please anyone? |

Looking at the leaves and leafpositions in the first picture I'm might hazzard the guess that this could be Coffee Arabica Nana, a coffee arabica cultivar you find being sold as an indoor plant since a few years.
Looking at the bare trunks in the second picture, if I can see that correctly, the trunks seems to be a bit squarish with the bark peeling of here and there. If that is the case I'm pretty sure I'm right. About repotting, I haven't got a clue wether this plant will take to repotting at this time of year. I did repot my coffeeplant during the middle of the summer once and I didn't seem to suffer from it, but this is usually not really the time to repot trees and I do know better now ![]() You want to prefereably do that when they the plants dormant, but since coffee arabica nana kept indoors behaves more like an evergreen I'm a bit at a loss. I'd say if the plant has shown new growth recently, it's in a growing phase right now, and I wouldn't recommend it. Anybody able to add something?

wow, i was not even close
![]() sure look a lot alike. hm, always been more interested in trees for their leaves rather than their flowers... Here is a closeup from the coffee plant for comparison. The ends of the leaves are pointier I've noticed.

I haven't been able to find a yellow gardenia, just white ones with a yellow center. Mom insists the petals are yellow and does not recall a strong fragrance. I'd suspected arabica myself but after viewing them in various stages of flowering and bean bearing, I think I can rule them out.
The most striking feature of this plant is that the leaves look as though they have just been been treated with 'Plant Shine' or 'Armor All'. They almost look fake and seem to repel dust better than any of the other plants around. The stems themselves display opposite phyllotaxy and the leaves rotate approximately 30 degrees between each pair, inter-nodal spacing is about 1 inch. Would any other pics help? Underside of leaf? Macro shot of growing tip? I'm gonna submit the pics to a Gardenia forum out there somewhere and see what comes up. Thanks |
