Golden Statements Online

The premiere book for the Golden State Bonsai Federation is now online. For years the small magazine was available to anyone who wished it for 15.00 a year. It was also included for one year if you came to a convention. Due to many factors, the formatt was changes from the smaller 5x8 formatt to 8.5x11 like a regular magazine. Also the magazine is available to read free of charge by the entire bonsai world here. Just click on the link and choose pdf formatt ( it's easier to read) and read away. Stay abreast with whats going on in bonsai on the left coast and read some very interesting articles to boot.

The three parter by Scott Chad starts in this issue so don't miss out on his experience with trying to import white pine into the USA. Very good reading as well as lighthearted (comical). Scott is a hoot! Of course some good scotch makes it much more funny, right Scott?

Also a good photo spread on the Shohin seminar last February.

Happy reading, Al Keppler

Thumbs up Gsbf

Thank you for that Al. Being a Bonsai enthusiast from Western Australia it is unlikely that I will ever get to the Golden State.
Now though I can read what is going on, and maybe become a long distance subsriber. Again thatnk you. Pup

Cool beans Al, thanks, and yet another reason to be jelous of the left coast. I've perused the site in the past, good stuff.

We thought about this for our club, but the obvious question is... will there be a large drop in subscription fees if most people read it online? If so, will the drop in fees have any effect in GSBF's revenue, or was it entirely dedicated to the magazine costs?

In this first online issue, GSBF says they were losing $7 per subscription, mostly in postage. So, the online version should help their finances.

Here's a question: is there any plan to scan previous issues and make a pdf archive? I would think that would be something folks would pay to see!

Also the online version may attract more physical members who happen upon the magazine by accident. As otherwise it is unlikely to appear in newsstands.
